The Between Islands project has been devised by An Lanntair, the main arts centre in the Western Isles of Scotland. The project aims to explore and collectively promote the arts and heritage of the islands of Orkney, Shetland, and the Outer Hebrides through collaborative projects. This website and main content has been made possible with funding through the LEADER 2014-2020 regional cooperation scheme.

Between Islands Coordinator Alex Macdonald talks about how the project developed and altered in order to continue during 2020.

“With dozens of online exhibits to explore, the Between Islands project offers a very engaging and, yes, often surprising perspective on island life. There are rich and varied cultures to explore, historic and contemporary, and the project also throws light on the place that the islands occupy today and the way in which they contribute to present-day music, art, design, science and technology.” Promote Shetland blog February 2021
